Surveys are fun and informative. Survey's are empowering, letting individuals have a say in what works and what is good. Surveys take time and thought so it makes sense that the companies using these surveys to establish trends should pay a survey taker.
I do not always like the way surveys pay. My least favorite is the promotional advertisement. Answer a question for a prize or money, then you have to register for a free trial or something like that. They usually want your credit card and then you have to cancel before the trial period ends. If you don't cancel the in time the payment you received will be eaten up by the cost of the program you tried. They hope you will not remember when to cancel and that is how they make money of of this type of "survey".
Sweepstakes are not great either - maybe you will get something for your time and maybe you won't. Usually only 1 member a month gets a prize, sometimes there are several winners but when you look at the number of survey entrants its a lot like playing the lottery.
I prefer those surveys that pay a flat fee for your time. They reimburse me for a bit of work I have done and they get to use those results to improve their product, advertising and customer base.
I do not like those survey marketers charge you to join their team and then most of the surveys you get through them are basically the promotional advertisements. I do not think anyone should pay to get a list of surveys.
There are some very good ones that are free. MyPoints is great. You earn points for reading e-mails, taking surveys, and shopping(usually so many points for each dollar spent). These points are converted into gift cards at great places. I have been doing this for years and have had at least one trip to Olive Garden paid for every year. I do not spend a lot of time doing this, so the return is not bad.
As I find more reputable sites I will update my blog. Let me know what you have had luck with.
How do you feel about surveys?
